On Failures and Frustration

I set out this afternoon to make an awesome wristlet and camera case. Instead, I made a sucky wristlet (no wrist loopy, sewn inside the bag… that was dumb) and I’m cutting my losses so I don’t screw up a camera case as well. I’ll let the crappy crafting die tonight and hopefully fix it tomorrow.

Out of my limited readers, if I still have any due to a bad posting schedule;

What are your frustrations? When you fail as completely as I have tonight, do you continue on and hope the fail stops? Do you get a good night’s rest and come back refreshed? Do you have any other techniques?

What happened today was so frustrating, I wanted to load up the tiny clutch, that doesn’t open because the zipper sticks, with a few bricks and toss it through a window. RAGE!

  1. I can usually turn mishaps into cool quirks, but I do recall once making a bow which I intended to fasten to a hair clip, but it came out so terribly disformed that I gave it to the cats to play with. It was lost under the couch a couple of days later — they helped rid me of the memory of that terrible creation. I was unwittingly thankful for their covering up…until just recently when I found it again while cleaning…

    But, alas, I did try the bow again a few weeks later with the knowledge I had gained from my mistake & the bow was perfect. It sold & is now adorning the hair of someone in Australia!

    • That’s what I’m hoping will happen with the purse-wreck I made. Apparently, you can sew too close to the zipper (while most of the books I’ve read suggest extreme closeness). The lining got caught in the zipper!

      I’m going to make another one tonight and hope it comes out properly!
